Write for
WebWord
Basic
Guidelines for Contributors
1. Send a proposal to me via e-mail, explaining the topic you
would like to write about. WebWord readers are practical and expect for tips, tips, and innovative ideas. Appropriate topics are
usability, human factors, information architecture, ergonomics, and related
areas. Almost everything on WebWord is directly related to the internet,
but it doesn't need to be. If you have something spicy to write about,
let's talk.
2. I will reply to your proposal. Once you've received
my reply, write a draft and submit it to me. Plain text or Microsoft Word are both
appropriate formats. At this point we will discuss the date that you plan on submitting the
final draft. I'll let you know when I would like to publish the final
version.
3. All articles must be submitted in English. There are no absolute
length constraints. If you really want guidance on this, try to shoot for something around 1,500 to 2,000 words. For what
it is worth, I would much rather have an article that is too long than too short. Give the topic
appropriate consideration.
4. All articles should include an abstract (or summary) that is a few
sentences in length. Many people will read the abstract and decide if they want to read the article. Make it snappy; be
sure to explain the purpose of the article.
5. Images are allowed. They should be as small as possible while
still providing the necessary information. In cases where you need to show a full screen be sure to provide me with a
reasonable thumbnail of the image as well as the larger image. Try to keep
images less than 40k if possible. GIF and JPEG are acceptable; GIF is generally a better choice.
6. All articles must include biographical information of the author:
First name, last name, your current location, employer and employer's URL, your job title or role,
and URL of your personal and/or portfolio. Feel free to include an
interesting quote. It is also a very good idea to submit a headshot: image size of 110 (width)
by 134 (height) is best.
7. At this time WebWord does not compensate authors. However,
authors are given excellent exposure to thousands of readers via the WebWord.com web site and the
WebWord newsletters.
8. If you submit an article, you are giving WebWord full permission to post
and publish the article. WebWord will be given one month exclusive rights
to the material. After one month, I will be happy to allow you to use the article in another place. Just let me know
where it will be posted.
