X10: What Counts, Though You Might Not Like It (ClickZ) -- "Pop-ups are the next best thing for the moment, because they help focus your message on converting right now. Until people really get used to them. But now, they make so much sense."

There are a few keys here. First, pop-up and pop-under ads are a novelty right now. That will go away and the "great numbers" won't mean much by the end of the year.
Second, the X.10 camera is the single item that is being pushed. Sales are probably at their peak right now, given this level of exposure. They cannot sustain these sales.
Finally, this whole conversation reminds me of banner blindness. Unfortunately, pop-ups and pop-under ads are even more annoying than banners.

A coworker asked me yesterday, in a fit of cookie hysteria, whether cookies were to blame for the X10 ads she always sees. I hooked her up with POW! from Analog X to smite the evil beast.

Well, if his numbers are correct, sales of $4 million plus mean that people are going to carry on doing this for a little while yet. However, note that the X10 site has a feature which will turn off their ad on your PC for 30 days (as long as you have cookies enabled).
