Designing for Usability on a Shoestring (Web Review) -- "Web sites can be viewed as a gift from a site's designers to its users. Although designers do all the work, it's the users who dictate the success of this gift. They either like it or they don't. When all the work is done, many sites have been made in selfishness. Their designers are like tech fanatics who buy Mom a kick-ass MP3 player for her birthday. Sure, it's just what they wanted, but Mom has no idea how to use the thing—and doesn't intend to learn. None of us want to be that kind of designer, do we? The best gift that you can give your users is a site that's easy to use." (Comments: Nothing new here. In fact, I think I might have covered the topic here and here. What do you think?)
