Floating Clock Abuse -- A couple of days I was hunting around for information and I landed on this page at Canada One. After about three seconds, an image of a clock started floating across the screen. It was annoying, to say the least. If you are going to abuse people with these kinds of ads, at least create cool advertisements.

here, in Israel, you can find these adson every page in every large comercial site. it is annoying, and brutal. the sad thing about it, is that advertisers like it. the surfers abviously don't.

Eh, it's no different than the annoying screen squishes that the Discovery Channel puts on your TV during a show. The squishing takes place so they can show you a blurb saying more information about the current topic is available on their web site.

Huh, why drive traffic away from your cable channel... you know, the part of your business that actually turns a profit? When my kids watched their digitally-recreated dinosaur show they went bonkers (groans, etc.) with every squish. I simply change channels when the squishes occur now.

So now web sites feel justified to distract users to the extreme, even if it means losing those users. There's no chance in hell I would become a frequent user of an abusive web site.
