Video Advertisements Embedded Onto Yahoo Pages -- "So I'm browsing through Yahoo! news today, and upon clicking on one of the links the page begins to load... then my computer freezes up for about 10 seconds. Thankfully I didn't get the ol' blue screen, and I was able to resume what I was doing. Then all of a sudden I hear this horrific sound coming out of my headphones, and upon scrolling down the page just a bit more, I saw it.... an embedded video stream advertisement for Pringles of all things..." in the last few days, i've actually been blown away by something similar on both Cnn.com and weather.com. upon opening a page and attempting to read news or check the weather, a bunch of nose starts and all of a sudden flash animations are criss-crossing all over the page (i'm assuming they are using the new layer and flash capability). one had airplanes dropping paratroppers on the page, and another had a car or something, i didn't stay on the site long enough to see exactly...

I don't think it can last; under the worse intentions, Yahoo wants to remain useful to the commoners they have left. Chances are, they simply sold link space and didn't verify what they were impressing. There's going to be much fingenail dirt checking in the future before everyone's happy.

Something tells me that they will stop these ads before long. I wonder how (and if) they detect the type of connection users have.

I thought loud music was reserved for the Geocities type of sites. Yahoo should know better. Why piss people off like this? Man, the balance sheet must really be looking bad for them to resort to something like this.
