How to Become a Star in a Dysfunctional Company -- "U.S. industry and government organizations waste more than $20 billion per year, according to a report by the Personal Computer Assets Management Institute. They throw away $3.7 billion a year on misallocation of resources, $1.8 billion on duplicate hardware and software, $2.6 billion on non-stand ardization of computing platforms, $3.5 billion on excess training, $900 million on help desk overexpenditures, $6.7 billion on lack-of-volume purchase leveraging, and $1.4 billion on loss of productivity through peer-to-peer support, asserts Greg Lewis, president of the Rochester, N.Y.-based firm."
