Google 2.0 (WebWord) -- "People using Microsoft's Internet Explorer are now being redirected to Microsoft's MSN when they make certain kinds of mistakes. This means that Microsoft is taking control of another part of the user experience. This article discusses how Google might be able to help users and solve a few other problems others along the way." (Comments: I've included some spicy ideas in this article. Enjoy!)

Responding to your thing about google client that gets answers to questions something along those lines already exists. Try atomica at atomica.com. It's a browser that interfaces to a mega-website database of dictionary, thesarus, maps, acronyms, stock quotes, loads of other stuff, and even google websearch

BTW, this feature has been here since at least version 4. You can disable it.
When you remove the redirection, it happends anyway (a MSN URL is called) but displays a 404 error page rather than a MSN page. I am convinced MS stores what you mistyped even with the feature disabled (they get a hit in their log files)

Users can turn this "feature" of IE off, but the settings are buried.
Click View > Explorer Bar > Search (or just hit Ctrl+E) to open the search bar.
Click the Customize button at the top of the search bar.
The "Customize Search" dialog will open.
Click the "Autosearch Settings" button at the bottom. The "Customize Autosearch Settings" dialog will open.
From the "When Searching:" pulldown, choose "Do Not Search from the Address bar."
Click OK to close the "Customize Autosearch Settings" dialog.
Click OK to close the "Customize Search" dialog.
Click View > Explorer Bar > Search (or hit Ctrl+E) to close the search bar.
Type an invalid URL (use www.kalsey.com.invalidurl).
You will not see the MSN autosearch page.
