U.S. Unable to Lead Global Recovery (Stratfor) -- "BBC has reported insurance claims from the disaster could top $30 billion, and Congress has allocated $40 billion in emergency reconstruction aid and a military buildup. So far, 150,000 Manhattan jobs -- along with 25 percent of the financial district's office space -- are gone, according to BBC and CNN." (Comments: Wow. I didn't even think about the number of jobs lost. I've been so focused on the terrible loss of life that I didn't think about the number of lost jobs. My heart goes out to all these people too.)
