Redesign on a Shoestring -- "Don't be surprised if you find that actual visitors completely miss your site's fanciest features, skip those $100,000 Flash intros and refuse to even contemplate reading your company's ponderous mission statement. If done well, such research may also reveal what users actually want." (Comments: A lot of usability can be done quickly and cheaply. However, some usability work requires dedicated resources, time, and money. When done by the right people, a big investment in usability will pay for itself many times over.)
