Can Navigational Assistance Improve Search Experience? (First Monday) -- "As the results of the experiment reveal, users, especially novices, significantly benefited from having access to several navigational aids within the search tool. Presenting results as preferred trails, organised in the form of a tree structure, and providing a navigational tool bar that acts as a history mechanism and recommender system, helps users to systematically review the results, show relationships between Web pages and also helps the user understand the context of a Web page within the site."
