WebWord Weblog Posting

Netscape Network toolbar - Web sites in the "Netscape Network" are sporting a revamped toolbar pointing to AOL/Netscape services. Note that the toolbar is consistent among AOL/Time Warner properties, except that Time For Kids has none, and CNN's toolbar has no search box, and On Magazine has the old toolbar. (Jack comments: I'm guessing CNN gets special treatment because people confused the Netscape search with CNN's own search box. The whole branding toolbar idea seems anti-user to me. Your opinions?)

Dagnabit! Here's another list of network members. My favorites are seeing the toolbar at ProgressiveFarmer.com and SouthernLiving.com. Funny.

I checked out the new Nutscape design, as well as Southern Living, CNN, etc. Boy, what a mess! I guess I don't visit the big commercial sites much anymore...and now I remember why. Other than pop-up ads (my main reason for avoiding these kind of sites), the designs are a visual assault and seem to be assembled by committees. What a joke. Give me the small, well-crafted sites (like WebWord) any day!
