WebWord Weblog Posting

Posting Date: September 04, 2002

Site review: jamaica-gleaner.com (Adrian Holovaty) -- "Because that date in the upper-right corner is so far removed from the content, it's anybody's guess whether it's the last-update date of the current page or just a server-generated "current date" stamp. The solution: Put the date within the content well in order to give users a visual clue that the date and content are related -- and include the words "Last updated" for good measure." (Comments: I think this particular comment is a really good one. Far too many web sites play games with dates using server-side scripts. I don't care about the date today. I can figure that out. Instead, I care about how fresh an article is, or when it was published so I can understand it in the appropriate context. Marketing scum love to use the date trick to get people to buy something before it is too late. [Adult content] Bastards. [/Adult content])
