WebWord Weblog Posting Posting Date: September 21, 2002 Reader Comments...
I give a link 6 hours to prove itself useful by generating comments, then all bets are off. John, regarding the current WebWord tagline... "Kind of Like Band Camp for People Interested in Usability." ... For those of us who did not experience such things, please explain what band camp is like. Posted by: Jack on September 21, 2002 11:44 PM
1. The posting was a complete failure. 2. I've never been to band camp. I am making a reference to Petey in American Pie II; I'm poking fun at myself and the WebWord community. 3. While I am offtopic, but on the topic of movies, I might as well tell folks that Serving Sara sucked. We wanted to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but it was sold out. Posted by: John S. John, I think that Mac's "camp band 1" posting is in bad taste. There were millions who died at the evil hands of the Nazis ... request a *remove* Posted by: on September 22, 2002 10:30 AM
I did think about that, but decided that with a lot of people talking about a war as if it's just a three letter word it doesn't do any harm to remind people of this site. www.remember.org If you want to discuss it, feel free to e-mail me with and comments. chris@firstcircle.co.uk Posted by: Mac on September 22, 2002 10:46 AM
John, for those of us not watching teen movies, could you elaborate on the reference in American Pie 2? I would choose an Amelie reference: Kind of like cracking the crust of a creme brulee
Jack, there was a girl in the American Pie movie who was kind of mousy and sort of clingy, and she played the flute (or some other woodwind instrument like a flute) and would always talk about her fun times at band camp, much to everyone's chagrin. She'd always start off by saying "This one time... at band camp..." < SPOILER >The funny thing was, at the end of the movie, she starts in on her band camp thing, but then she talks about using her flute as an.... uh... erotic aid. Needless to say, this gets the attention of the kid who humped the pie, and she is revealed as an alley cat constantly on the prowl for sex. < /SPOILER > Posted by: Lydia on September 23, 2002 12:27 PM
That said, I think the tagline should be "Say my name, bitch!" Ha ha *sound of crickets* Alternately, you could let users set their own tagline, ala JerryKindall.com. Posted by: Lydia on September 23, 2002 01:10 PM
If I entered this site and it had Say my Name, bitch as the tag line .......I would be rolling on the floor laughing for hours.... like I almost am now. Then again ......I do have a warped sense of humour (spelt the non-American way) JS...why don't you have a new tag line on refresh - that should keep it interesting.
