Information Architecture WWW O'Reilly NEW (eBay) -- "Information Architecture for the World Wide Web, 2nd Edition, shows you how to blend aesthetics and mechanics for distinctive, cohesive web sites that work. Most books on web development concentrate on either the graphics or the technical issues of a site. This book focuses on the framework that holds the two together." (Comments: This is an excellent book. I own two copies but I don't need both, so I have decided to open up this auction. Good luck bidding!)

Might have bid, but you only accept Paypal. Why do you own two copies?

Maybe next time you might consider a fun contest instead of eBay?

Oh boy...I am catching heat from this auction. I really should have been more clear about it. First, I should have said that O'Reilly sent me two free copies. That was very nice of them; it is an excellent book. Second, I also have the first edition of the book. So, I really don't need three copies (although the second edition is much better). Third, I am always trying to experiment with WebWord. In this case, I wanted to see how well an auction for an item would work using WebWord as the launch pad. Fourth, and most importantly, I wanted to do something to promote the book. What better way to get people thinking about the book than to have an auction?

OK, in the future I might end up doing this again. As long as the books (or items) are of interest to the community, it makes sense to me. It gets people thinking about book (or item) and it gives people an opportunity to get something at a lower cost. It puts a few bucks in my pocket too.

kind of lame auctioning off a free book in this way!

Hey Anonymous, are you trying to say you wouldn't auction a free book if you could?

Are you permitted to auction comp books? The recording industry prohibits reselling of comp CDs and they chip out a chunk of plastic from the gem case to be sure the CD is marked as comp. Book sellers don't mark their free books?
