WebWord Weblog Posting Posting Date: October 02, 2002 ICQ gets back to basics (CNET) -- "The popular instant messaging service owned by America Online on Monday released a slimmed-down version, called "ICQ Lite," that targets first-time users with its simplicity. The service is smaller, with a 1.7MB file size compared with the standard 3.6MB. But most notably, ICQ Lite comes with fewer of the bells and whistles than its full-featured ICQ cousin." It's been around a lot longer than Monday. The reason I didn't get it is that it doesn't do logging, which I use to help me remember past conversations. So I wasn't delighted (a reverse pun?). Maybe they should have offered logging as a plugin. Posted by: Morris Cox on October 2, 2002 11:53 PM
