Diarist.com -- Perhaps the only blog that provides RSS feeds with passwords. Is that a good thing? Does it make sense? I'm confused.

I'm not sure what you mean. I was able to open all RSS feeds without entering a password. Here's a page with a feed:
http://favsongs.diarist.com/

Works fine for me.
