Fixes a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. That is, the GUI should be designed to avoid this type of problem...

Back in the early days of window systems, the battle raged between two competing windowing approaches: tiling vs. overlapping. Overlapping has clearly won that fight, at least in mainstream UIs. I find it very ironic though, that Expose brings back some form of tiling.

Overlapping won because it's more natural.

I think it's cute that they came up with a name for it. I can't imagine actually calling it by name in daily conversation, but it's still cute though.
