Information Foraging: Why Google Makes People Leave Your Site Faster -- "This dual strategy is the reason I recommend that you showcase sample content on the homepage (appear nutritious) and prominently display navigation and search features (demonstrate that users can easily find what they're looking for)." (Comments: The ideas in this Jakob Nielsen article are good but the writing is terrible. What was he smoking when he wrote it? By the way, this article continues a trend I've noticed. Information architects are talking more about usability and usability folks are talking more about information architecture. The marketing folks still seem to be outside this loop. Strange.)

Evaluate terminology and the 'icing' of your site with users i.e. primary and secondary navigation, home page etc. If you can get more of your targets to understand this, finding the right information becomes much easier.
